Some interesting facts about income tax...

Bribes, thefts and other taxable income
If you made money, the IRS wants some of it, and it doesn't matter whether
you made it honestly or were running drugs. Here are income-reporting rules you
might not know about.
Did you sell a few kilos of marijuana, take a bribe or
steal a computer in 2008? Be sure to include that income on your tax return,
unless you want to get in trouble with the Internal Revenue
Service.
Virtually all Americans know they should report income such as
wages, capital gains and tips, even if they don't. But if you're an average
taxpayer, you might not be familiar with some of the tax code's lesser-known
income rules.
The basic rule is this: If it counts as income, it's
taxable.
It doesn't matter where that income comes from. Prohibition-era
gangster Al Capone contended, "The government can't collect legal taxes from
illegal money," but he was wrong and wound up with eight years in prison for tax
evasion. The tax laws are regularly used to nab other crooks the same
way.
Maybe your year was better than a convicted drug dealer's. Did you win a
Nobel prize or a beauty contest? You might have additional income to
report.

but then come to think of it, who in his right or "left" mind hehe would declare that they stoled or do drug business. Well, law is law,

An evening at the Thai border again

I brought my son's friends over the Thai border for some exquisite dinner in the jungle just by the lakeside. Earlier I have wrote about it, the food is really good there and it’s cheap comparatively - The water view restaurant.
The restaurant's business is really good, no more coconut water, no more oysters... Aarrhhhh.. Sold out.

We ordered those regulars, - kheng som fish, some fried fish, mango "krabu", the ulam vege, even the ordinary fried egg is delicious and the curry crab. These are the normal Thai dishes where most of the customers would order.

Guess who are the friends?
Gym & Yise from Astro AEC E-news Channel 301and some camera crews. Hey I always thought camera crews are man but this whole team of them is all girls. There are shooting for the coming Chinese new year e-news on Danell Lee visiting his home town and his old childhood home. Again, me & my wife became "free & part-time" actor and actress... hahaha.

So this year, we will be on 2 shows - 8TV and Astro for this coming Chinese new year.

Well, after dinner, they decided to walk around at the border town of "Danok" to do some shopping and I came across an elephant. These elephants are actually "beggars" or shall I say the victim of a "beggars" syndicate. Infact there was some debate of these animals begging in the city but I guess you can't blame them. You know these elephants are logging elephants but since the government has banned logging in the country, how are they to survive without work. Who is going to feed them? So they turn to tourism to support the owners of this faithful creature. Since they are using the same road and the cars, they must follow our society rules so you can see they have a tail light hanging on its tail so that you can see them at night. I think there must have been some previous incidence of cars knocking onto an elephant.

Cars give out carbon monoxide while the elephants give out their “dungs” and it’s not just one scoop but when it gives out, its several kilos of it. Yup, that is the one problem with these animals in the street, the whole city or town will be filled with this “dungs” and now they have some regulations. The owner has to take care of them every time those dungs drop; they have to scoop it up.

And while waiting for them, I came across a small tricycle paddler selling something... curiously I walked over and this is what I saw. “Pest” for food. – Caterpillars, grass-hoppers, ants, beetles and bugs. If you are a “drinker” this is the best tidbits to go along.
I dare to take all of them but the caterpillars… oh no… I just cannot stand the sight of it. Just thinking of the wriggling, I feel like vomiting.. hehe

and these are giant termites. And they are not cheap, one small bowl of a few grams cost RM2.00.

and these are grass-hoppers - cripsy fried in oil, just like taking crispsy fried prawns

If you want a closer look, click on the picture to get a bigger and closer view of it.

At first I thought they are cockroach hehe.. beetles from the wild. jungle. Actually all these stuffs are good for our health if you dare to eat them hehe

My eye-sight is not good you know,, old age hehe.. I thought they were lice and bugs when I saw those big oval things and small strends of broken tiny claws and bits. eerrkkk...
but when I reach home and magnify the pictures....
nope... they are not bugs or lice.. but big ants mmm looks like the body of queen termites and worker ants.

and here is GYM (from Astro AEC 301) playing with my 2 grandsons during dinner.

Yise (Astro AEC -301) with my grandson - swin, disturbing her all thru' dinner hehe

and our group picture (Danell,me & swan, Gym & Yise) after the dinner at water view restaurant. I guess they love Thai food, all the dishes were squiky clean... hehe

We return back to Malaysia again.. and continue with the shooting and this one is for the album after a good take..

The circle of life

The circle of life

I think most of us have seen this movie – the circle of life

A story of a lion’s way of life and how the circle of one generation takes over another generation. The ups and downs of the life cycle of each species that has to experience in order to survive and learn new ways. The excitement and the pressure of responsibility and how the old generation guides the next generation with all their wisdom of the past to instill in them younger ones to reach out and lead the next.

We humans are not omitted but the same – we have to go thru’ the circle of life and it goes round again and again. But I realize one thing. Life doesn’t actually goes round in a circle..

It’s spirals into all directions, it is never the same circle and the life circle from one generation to the next will never meet but spirals. The old ways can never be use entirely to predict the next but merely guides you along the line of similarity but never the same.

One system that works for the current may never work for the next and wise-versa.

That’s why none of us can really predict anything perfectly but merely using some old historical data to analyze roughly what should or could happen next but again it can go any direction when the time comes.

You know every year; we have our fish seasons and the theoretical facts of demand and supply. When the season comes, supply will be ample so prices will drop and when the season is off, prices will come up so as a global trader that deals in volume, this simple fact should make us every fish monger rich! Buy low and sell high. But then the next question is how high and how low? The statistics last year cannot be use as judgment of prices this year or the next and every year some of us will always get burnt… You can never predict anything for real…and there will always be another new high and another new low as we have seen how our world economy now.

The spiraling cycle of life should be the right word.

The changing times...

Well, Don't laugh, it's becoming a reality these days. Alot of tech things have become our daily norm of practice. You know sometimes, my wife does that even in our own home. It is more practical to msn and get over with it rather then to walk over to another room just to say it. Our computers are never off accept when it's time to bed. Everyday, the msn messenger is always full of messages, the handphone is full of sms and our forum - Pinkies world - the favorite passtime of pinkies through out the nation will be chit chating day and night.
This is the future and soon it will be to have and to hold , to email and fax, to page and beep until death do you part. hehehee

Today's my birthday - Oh how the years pass

It was like yesterday as we held hands running around the beach...

and it was like yesterday, we stumble over into the water too busy staring at something

and today, now I know why GOD gave us older man poor eye-sight.. ya there must be a reason for it... Forgive me for asking... what are those colored patches at the beach?

Oh I see...ooopss.. sorry

Life is short! Break the rules!

Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly!

Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably..

And never regret anything that made you smile.

It's my birthday and I want you to laugh out loud. :) HAHAHAHAHAHA

How to beat the gloomy economic situation

What is the world becoming is in everyone's mind nowadays. A roller-coaster ride of oil price hike and suddenly a down turn, and big corporations were got in the middle of the havoc. Every country in the world is effected, jobs gone and some stock market shares turn into papers literally. And how has it affect you?

You can forget about pay raise for this few years as it will take years for recovery. It's all about how you gonna maintain and survive this few years. Companies has stop investing in new projects or put on hold until they can see a clearer future ahead. We have nowhere to go but to find other means of income to support ourselves. My job and business has been affected too when the US corporation crumbled because indirectly we source products for manufacturers for the US market. They are directly affected and we are indirectly hit too.

The internet business is nothing new to me, I have been in this line for awhile now but I didn't really work on it until lately when I realise that the economy will not recover so soon so it's best to find another alternative to survive this gloomy world now.

Big investment is out of the question, so we have to find some simple small business to do. Something that is simple and cheap and earns daily. We just want to make ends meet or make some side income while we still work our 9-5 jobs.

I have designed a very simple and cheap business to do while we wait for the economic storm to clear. Hey, who knows this small business could even be our main source of income one day.

Click on the oldman's head above to find out further. YOU have nothing to lose. Just read my marketing plan, if it suits you.. welcome aboard else just hang around, post a few ads see where it goes from there..then decide...
There is no secret behind this system, plain simple work to create a database for me while you learn and make some money for yourself. YOU win,,and I WIN..

DFC's 3rd anniversary 7th Nov. 2008

I guess some of you readers may not know what is DFC, well DFC means Danell's fanclub and it is our 3rd year where fans of Danell popularly know as the "pinkies" celebrate with Danell.

I am glad the club is still strong and intact hehe after so many years without any proper committee but we just do it because we love to. We have all become friends and once in awhile we would come together to meet and have some fun.

And this year, we held our celebration at Novotel Hydro Majestic Hotel right in the middle of the city center. A cosy setting at the 1st level, we rented the hall with some buffet dinner servings and we all had lots of fun.

and we had a cake cutting ceremony to mark the celebration of our 3rd anniversary. Together with me is my wife (a.swan), Danell (my son) and Ms Sue from Sony BMG (Danell's management company)

and here is our group picture of all the fans who attended the celebration night. Though quite a few did not turn up due to last minute changes but I know they wish they could be here with us. We all know when we are together, it is always fun and laughter.

I have just donated 2,020 grains of rice

What better way to learn and donate to help the hungry at the same time.
By playing this game, I learn new words and I have donated 2,020 grains. Well it's not alot but if we do it everyday spending a few minutes a day learning new words that will be beneficial to us and at the same time, donating grains of rice to feed the hungry. Now if we imagine the number of people all over the world learning and clicking away to donate each time we answer a question, it will run into billions of grains of rice. As to date, 52 billion grains of rice have been donated this way.
Yeah.. check it out.. below:

Walking down memory lane

Some 8 years ago, this was my residence, The regency supercondo at Gurney drive. You know life is like that, when we were staying there, we seldom go out to eat at those famous hawker stalls over there and its just walking distance away. All those years staying over there, I think I use the swimming pool only once ! Again, life's like that, when you don't have it, you want it but when it's there to for you to use for free.. we don't bother.

The famous Gurney drive "Penang fried koay teow" where you have to queue for turn to collect your orders. Sometimes the queue is so long that they will give you a warning first that you have to wait for 1/2 hour and ask whether you can wait. If you can't they will thank you and sorry... and say come back next time.

and here Song river cafe, one of my favourite cafe for breakfast those days when we have friends from out station, we will bring them to this cafe. Penang's famous "Bak Kut teh" and the fried "lala"

Holy Man - Starring Eddie Murphy

Holy man
starring Eddie Murphy

I have seen this movie several times already and everytime when I watch, I would still laugh at the comedy part of the movie. But this movie is more then a comedy, if you can understand the essence of what the movie is all about.

His simple life makes us feel that life should be lived in this way. Simple and enjoyable and you will seem to have everything you ever need.

He wants nothing and he willingly gives everything. He can have everything we normal people yearns to have but it's means nothing to him. His purity and pure love radiates and everyone could feel it.

If you want to enjoy everything in your life, you must yearn for nothing..

When you want nothing, everything is yours hehehe.

so simple yet so complicated isn't it hehe

Terubok Sarawak

Popularly known as Terubok Sarawak, this fish and its process in Kuching has given its name. Being an importer and exporter of fish, we know that Terubok Sarawak comes from Myanmar, we call it as hilsa fish and we export a lot of them to Kuching, Sarawak to be made into salted fish.

We studied into the market of this fish as to why is it so in demand in Kuching but we realise that most of the customers are from West Malaysia. I tried to market them in Kuala Lumpur but realize that the demand of the fish was not there. As we looked deeper in the market, we came to realise that most of the sales are at the airport and finally we found the answer. Terubok Sarawak is more like a tourist product, people from West Malaysia goes to East Malaysia and when they come back home, they will back some back since we cannot find them in West Malaysia so this species is a best buy at the airport. Airport being very strategic location since there is only one way back and every west malaysian have to pass thru' so the airport is the best place to sell such products.

Now I have found another way to sell it...
By postage and we have decided why not try to market it this way. Terubok Sarawak cannot be sold in the market. One thing it cannot last and another thing is that it is not a meal where we take everyday but just occasionally.

Check it out here for more details how to get hold of this product.

The hardest thing to break

What is the hardest thing to break?

Diamonds are hard to find but not hard to break.

What is the hardest thing to break then?
The answer is: HABIT
If you break the H, you still have A BIT. If you break the A, you still have BIT. If you break the B, you still have IT!!!

Hey, after you break the T in IT, there is still the 'I'. The person

at the end of the day, is the root of all the problems. Cute???

Now, I know why HABIT is so hard to break. Its destiny is in its name.
The word itself.
My lecturer taught me never, never, never to ASSUME . Because it makes an 'ASS' out of 'U' and 'ME'....
You think it is a frog and I think it is a horse!

Moral: We have to respect each other's opinion; you can see it clearly in the above picture. We just need to wait and listen actively to others' point of view!

Have a nice day :)

Marriage out of Caste

Now this is for real, it's looks like one of those tamil movies which I use to watch during my young days in the estates. Marriage out of caste is still a taboo in India even today. I was on my way to Mumbai for business and I just saw in the papers while on the plane - Mumbai Mirror
Click on the picture to read the full story about how the parents were paraded "naked" in the streets and beaten, because their son married another girl from another caste.
