This is where I grew up, in a small village where hardship is a norm. Even the simplest necessities of life we have to work for it.. Water
There wasn't any tap water so we had to carry water from a well in the jungle and bring them to the shops and our homes for drinking and washing. It was our daily chores and there was no electricity in our place so we have to built our own lights by using kerosene lamps and gas lamps. We live so far away from school and we have to wake up earlier then most kids - 4 am so that we can reach school by 7:30am. We had to cross a river to school and sometimes we have to take a small boat to cross when the ferry breaks down and it is very often. We have to open the shop and start a fire to boil water so that we can serve coffee and tea to the villagers who will come for breakfast before they go to work in the estates. We have to collect left overs from the shops so that we can feed the chickens and pigs.
When you do this everyday in and out for years, you simply forgot what is hardship and what is difficulty because it becomes normal and routine.
This is the greatest gift I had in my life, it is from this gift that I know how to value everything I have now. :)
